INTERNATIONAL BALLET ACADEMY AND FESTIVAL INFORMATION (December 2006)
(This event has been cancelled)
BALLET ADRIATICO
An International Ballet school and Festival established in 2005 in Ascoli
Piceno, Italy. The Artistic Director/Co-Executive Director is Anna-Marie
Holmes and the Music Director/Co-Executive Director is Kevin Galié. This
summer program provides an annual retreat for students, teachers,
professional dancers, choreographers and companies to develop and create new
work. The session also includes performances of the classics and world
premieres, both inside the Opera House and outside in the square, that tie
into the annual medieval festival activities.
The 2007 Ballet Adriatico season will run from July 28th to Aug.16th.
Dancers will take daily classes in Ballet, Repertoire, Pilates, Acting and
Music from an international faculty. There are excursions to the Adriatic
coast, medieval festivals, museums and opera performances. All of this takes
place in the charming town of Ascoli Piceno, which is even older than Rome.
Students, professionals, and teachers alike all stay in an ancient seminary
on a hill where they enjoy home-cooked Italian cuisine for breakfast and
dinner. They are bussed daily into the city for classes, performances and
excursions. There are four studios, two of which are in the Opera House. In
addition to the rehearsals and classes, an annual lecture on Cecchetti and
the lineage to Vaganova technique will also take place. The dancers perform
several new world premieres and receive coaching on the classics. Ballet
Adriatic's 2 plus weeks are an enriching and memorable experience for
everyone involved. The price is $2600 and includes airfare, lodging,
breakfast and dinner, classes and excursions.

BALLET RUSSES DOCUMENTARY TO OPEN THIS FALL (September 2005)
Filmmakers Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine have woven together rich archival footage to tell the story
of the unprecedented artistic collaboration known as the Ballets Russes. What began as a group of
Russian refugees who never danced in Russia became not one but two dance troupes whose rivalry
consumed London society before World War II. For information, theaters, dates, and trailer, visit:
